Kyra Adkins is a 7th and 8th grade science teacher with over 25 years of experience teaching students kindergarten through high school She holds a B.A. in Environmental Science and Policy and an M.S. in Education and is passionate about student-centered, inquiry-based learning
Ms. Adkins integrates hands-on experiments, outdoor exploration, mindfulness, and movement into her lessons to help students connect science concepts to the world around them. Outside the classroom, she enjoys hiking with her two dogs, Moon and Gigi. Surfing and sailing on the ocean, and tending her pollinator gardens for monarch butterflies and hummingbirds.
She loves to visit her son who lives in Maine, where she raised him on an island in Casco Bay. He attended the
Maine Maritime Academy and currently works as the 2nd Mate/Navigator on an Oil Tanker in the Gulf of Mexico.
